New York, February 15, 2012--The Committee to Protect Journalists is concerned about the health of imprisoned Yemeni journalist Abdulelah Hider Shaea who has waged a hunger strike since Sunday to protest his continued detention.

attempts of governments in the Middle East to censor news coverage of protests.
In Yemen, men stormed the Journalists' Syndicate on Saturday, and in Iraq,
journalists demanded apologies from the military after a crackdown
on the press on Friday, and Baghdad Operations Command
offered the apologies on Sunday.
New York, May 12, 2010—The Committee to Protect Journalists today called on the Yemeni government to end its campaign of intimidation, violence, and politicized prosecutions against journalists in the wake of yet another prison sentence for a journalist.
