Radio journalist found buried near Acapulco

We issued the following statement today in response to the killing of radio reporter Juan Daniel Martínez Gil whose body was found Tuesday near Acapulco...

"Juan Daniel Martinez joins a sickeningly long list of journalists who have fallen victim to the lawlessness plaguing Mexico. His body was found gagged, brutally beaten and partially buried on a vacant lot," said Carlos Lauría, CPJ's senior program coordinator for the Americas. "State and federal authorities must investigate this vicious murder exhaustively and put an end to this violence against the Mexican press."
