U.S. forces detain Afghan journalist for two days

Baheer, who works for an independent radio station run by the Afghan Killid media group, was arrested in his home in southeastern Khost province, along with two brothers. His father said the troops had bound him and covered his face while they searched the house and removed his three sons, according to Pajhwok.

Baheer and his brothers were released on June 4 and told AFP that the military had apologized for detaining him on false information. The journalist said he was not mistreated in detention. He said the military had been monitoring his phone conversations, according to AFP.

The U.S. military released a statement saying Afghan and coalition forces had arrested the three men for questioning during a raid to seek a militant who traffics arms and supplies to the Haqqani network, an insurgent group with links to the Taliban, according to the news reports.
