New Tang Dynasty TV

HARASSED

Chang Sik Lee and Choi Seon Hee, reporters for New Tang Dynasty TV station, a New York-based independent Chinese television station, were banned from the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) meeting in Busan, South Korea, according to news reports. Organizers said the reporters had broken rules for the conference.

New Tang Dynasty TV has often reported critically on the Chinese government; the Chinese government, in turn, has accused it of being a mouthpiece for the banned spiritual group Falun Gong. Chang and Choi are Falun Gong practitioners.

The Associated Press said the two were ordered to leave because they had not pre-registered for the event, although other unregistered journalists were not asked to leave.
